Coastal Flood Advisory issued May 9 at 3:29PM EDT until May 11 at 1:00AM EDT by NWS Upton NY * WHAT...Up to one foot of inundation above ground level expected in vulnerable areas near the waterfront and shoreline. * WHERE...Southern Queens and Southern Nassau Counties. * WHEN...For the first Coastal Flood Advisory, from 8 PM this evening to midnight EDT tonight. For the second Coastal Flood Advisory, from 9 PM Friday to 1 AM EDT Saturday. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in the more vulnerable locations near the waterfront and shoreline. Some roads and low lying properties including parking lots, parks, lawns, and homes and businesses with basements near the waterfront will experience minor flooding. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Locally moderate flooding is possible across the most vulnerable locations in coastal Southern Nassau. Additional minor flooding is possible with the Saturday night high tide. If travel is required, allow extra time as some roads may be closed. Do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth. Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone property.
